Proof that Spirals are better than Circles

So...the book of Helaman.  Can we say roller coaster? (We can?  Oh, I'm so proud!)  All joking aside though, this book is the one that best exemplifies the pride cycle.  It is also the book that is guaranteed to give you whiplash.  Seriously.  The people are doing GREAT one second, and the next KABAM they are anti-Christs out to destroy the world.  It's like a really bad case of spiritual schizophrenia.
For those of you who do not know what the pride cycle looks like...I have entirely too much time on my hands and have included a visual...along with a couple modifications.
This is FAIRLY self explanatory  but the thing is, it does NOT always go in a circle.  People can get stuck in ruts.  This generally results in them becoming more prideful, sinning more, and then getting knocked down a peg or five.  They continue in a downward spiral.  It can be broken at any time, but that involves a little something called repentance.  Repentance is HARD.

On the flip side, there is the righteousness spiral.  This leads you closer to God as you recognize the blessings he gives, remain humble and continue improving.

No one will do this perfectly, but hey, it's better than the alternative!  STAY on the upward spiral as much as you can! (And girls, whichever of you gets a spiral for their wedding ring/engagement ring is officially my hero.  That is all.)

El senor vive y se amas.
